About Us

Welcome to Sugar Crush! This business project is established by the students of Curtin Malaysia based in Miri, Sarawak with the aim to promote and support local businesses and to educate the public regarding the issues of food wastage in the country. In this day and age, it is quite rare for people of this generation to have a short conversation, or a proper discussion regarding food waste and how it impacts us and our country. This is mainly due to the fact that the trending topics of today are mostly related to the personal wellbeing (mental health). Due to this, our team wishes to bring light to the problems of food wastage and why it is important for us to be more sustainable in our daily lives.

With that being said, we have made the decision of collaborating with Julia's Home Desserts and Te'amo Shake Mansion. Both of these wonderful businesses are small, local businesses run by our local Mirians. Through this project, not only are we hoping to raise funds for donations, but we also aim to give these two businesses the exposure the need and deserve. We hope to gain the attention of our fellow Mirians and hope to provide them with future loyal customers so that they can continue on with their businesses.

On top of that, our team have decided to collaborate with The Lost Food Project. The Lost Food Project aims to help those in need, regardless of their cultural background, by liberating food waste that are still in good condition and then allocating them to those who cannot afford to get a hold of daily groceries. Through this collaboration, we aim to donate 30% of our earnings to The Lost Food Project with the intention of supporting their cause and at the same time, supporting those that have little to no access to food.

We hope that many are willing to support this cause, as even one purchase will be able to make a difference to ones life.
